Hey you! Guess what? It’s time for the Best of March! This past month has been a bit of a busy one really – lots and lots of work to get done in the office and even more new exciting projects outside of it and so there’s been some great little things that have pulled me through the time and kept me completely sane, or just about anyway…. and so without further ado – The Best of March
The Pasta Maker
This seems like such a strange choice right? I know, but trust me, it’s going somewhere. I managed pick up this awesome looking pasta maker from Homesense (the holy land) a coulee weeks into the month and it was -ridiculously- cheap. I thought it might be a good idea to spend a little more time in the kitchen, with my creative skills being tested at work maybe trying out a different route would bring back that calming artistic flair – and holy poops it worked. I love making food, it’s my new therapy. You should try it.
Rick & Morty
Rick and Morty was a massive thing for me this month, I am very susceptible to a good animated show, and this one is just pure gold. I binged it so quick that I actually did’t realise what was going on – so I watched it all again, and again, and again. I loved it more and more each time, and am slowly realising that I will eventually turn into that ‘screw everything’ character of Rick. I will be the Rick-est Rick around. If you haven’t caught this show then I don’t really know where you’ve been, it’s on Netflix – do yourself a favour…
Kauai – Childish Gambino
With the weather getting nicer lately I’ve been looking to find more and more music for my summer playlists – and this album is a gold mine. This 2014 record is built, from beginning to end, of super chilled beats and poignant lyrics. Donald Glovers decision to bring Jaden Smith onboard with the majority of tracks could be initially thought to be mental, but it really ties together perfectly. Late Night in Kauai (the penultimate track) is by far favourite – Jaden’s build up through the the initial couple minutes to Donald’s melodic verse reminds me of the intro to In The Air Tonight by Phil collins. Best line – “do you really like that shit you like? or do you like the way they gave it to you?”.
The Final section as always is magazine of the month – this time it’s Loupe. I found this magazine while scrolling through instagram and just had to give it a try. I got in contact with the creators and they sent over a backlog of the first three issues, and I have to say I’m in love. This photography journal is such a great way to expand the styles you look at – and a top of that – it’s free! They send physical versions of the magazine out to different stores around the country – check their website for further details on how to get hold of one!
Also, if you’re a budding photographer then note that Loupe are always taking submissions so go give them your juicy content!
So that was March. A great, exciting, busy time – but with plenty of cool things to pull me through. I hope you enjoyed this post and share some of your favourite things in the comments, I always like finding new things 🙂
